Acid stains can be applied to transform a plain slab into a truly one-of-a-kind surface. Acid stains are translucent, much like wood stains. Pattern variations caused by the unique conditions during the original pouring of each slab, and which are visible on the bare concrete, will also be visible after staining, and are part of what create the natural stone-like appearance of the floor that make the end result so appealing. Man-made blemishes and stains, caused by construction materials, grease, or even pet stains, also can react with the chemicals in the stain and be visible. In cases where other than earth tones are desired, concrete dyes are available in a wider array of vivid, pastel, and other color tones. Either choice of coloring can be used in conjunction with machine polishing or topical sealing. |
